Meet the Real Face of Business

Louise Pode

ProAbility

Who are you?

I’m a Positive Psychology Coach and love my job with a passion. Working collaboratively with clients and businesses inspires me to develop and stretch myself to be the best coach for my clients. I love cooking for friends and family, music, Glastonbury, exercise, skiing and Menorca.

How did the business come about?

I started off life as a physiotherapist with a key interest in ergonomics. Optimising the working environment to enable employees to work safely and efficiently was a key focus as I worked for the military, modifying recruit training programmes to minimise injuries. As I moved into the manufacturing sector, designing process lines, my focus was on enabling those with a long term health condition such as cancer, mental health and MS to optimise their potential. This work highlighted the negative impact of self limiting beliefs in holding us back. Coaching clients to overcome those beliefs and develop resilience is key to enable them to be the best version of themselves.

How long has your business been in existence?

I rebranded my company from UCD Ergonomics to ProAbility in 2011 when my focus moved to coaching clients.

What job or achievement makes you most proud?

There are 2 key moments in my coaching career which were defining for me. In 2011 when I initiated, developed and delivered the Access to Work Mental Health Pilot here in the North West, supporting 178 clients with fantastic results. This has now become a national service. In 2017 I established a Ski With Confidence course for anxious skiers to overcome their fear. I was once that anxious skier and it’s a testament to the power of our mindset that I now love skiing so much I have incorporated it into my business. I’ve had amazing results with my clients over the last 2 seasons.
